Frequently Asked Questions

Which organization does Adrenal Cure Collective support and why?

The board unanimously agreed to support Dr. Del Rivero at NIH due to her exceptional expertise and dedication to the adrenal cancer community. We know every team doing research would benefit from contributions, but at this time, many of us rely on Dr. Del Rivero's expertise. Dr. Del Rivero's research at NIH faces funding challenges this year due to recent government cuts to the adrenal program. By supporting her work, we aim to ensure that her important research can continue, benefiting the adrenal cancer community worldwide.

To advance science and improve human health, NIH makes the peer-reviewed articles it funds publicly available on PubMed Central, which is a free archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature. This means Dr. Del Rivero's articles are available worldwide. Learn more about the NIH's Public Access Policy.

Additionally, Dr. Del Rivero has consistently gone above and beyond to help many ACC Warriors, including non-U.S. based patients. Every member of the board living with an ACC diagnosis has their own primary endocrinologist and oncologist, but each of us consult or have consulted with Dr. Del Rivero.

While Dr. Del Rivero's research at NIH is our current focus, we remain open to exploring opportunities to contribute to other organizations in the future. Our commitment is to advance research and support for adrenal cancer patients wherever it is most needed.

Does Adrenal Cure Collective support patients and families directly?

At this time, no. For patient, caregiver, family, and friend support, we refer to our friends at Adrenal Cancer Connections:

Our board members living with an ACC diagnosis met through this group and are active members. In addition to offering invaluable support and insight, the administrators of this group host a yearly ACC conference.

For patient support with cancer-related expenses, Cancer.org lists programs and resources, and The Atrium Foundation is a non-profit that provides financial support directly to patients.

Does Adrenal Cure Collective support research for other adrenal issues?

Adrenal Cure Collective is specifically dedicated to funding research for adrenocortical carcinoma. Many people living with an ACC diagnosis have/had Cushing’s syndrome or live with adrenal insufficiency. We understand the complexities and challenges associated with other adrenal issues, however, at this time, we are focused on helping find a cure for adrenal cancer specifically.
